Monday, October 16, 2009 Vienna has left Henry, and he's run out of time to pay Ralph back the money he owes him. So he decides to leave town. He says good-bye to Katie, and she tries to intervene with Ralph on his behalf so that he can stay. Meanwhile, Audrey decides that the best way to deal with Barbara is to kill her. Fortunately Henry stops her before Barbara drinks the poisoned drink. He's about to get out of town when Ralph calls him and tells him he has Katie. Today’s episode was directed by Sonia Blangiardo and written by Janet Lacobuzio.
Transcripts from TVMegasite Katie: This is your plan B? You run away forever. Henry: Look, Vienna left me. Ralph wants to kill me. Okay? There's nothing for me here. Katie: And what am I? Henry: You're my best friend, Katie, but you've got a beautiful life ahead of you and you've got a husband that loves you. You've got a baby on the way! Katie: No, this is wrong! [Cellphone ringing] Henry: Uh. Katie: What? Henry: Hello. Ralph: Hey, hank. How's it hanging? Henry: Not so good, Ralph. Ralph: Oh. You know, I think you sweat things too much. You want to take a little bit more time and smell the roses. Henry: Is there a specific reason that you called? Ralph: Yeah. I want you to run like a rabbit to the roof of java, and I'm gonna be there waiting for you. You know why? Henry: My time is up? Ralph: Tick-tock, Henry. Tick-tock.
Katie: What did he say? Henry: My 24 hours are up. Katie: And? Henry: And tick-tock, and meet him on the roof of java. Katie: Why? Henry: To either pay him or have him throw me over the edge, Katie. I don't know. It doesn't matter. The fact that Barbara won't let me go near the inheritance and my time is up, I suspect that it's the latter. Katie: Why? No. You can't let this happen! Henry: That's why I'm leaving. Katie: And do what, live your life on the run? You're not Jason Bourne, Henry! This Ralph guy has connections! Someone's gonna find you! Henry: I'll figure something out, okay? And I will stay away. Katie: From all the people you love, forever? Henry: Katie, you are the best friend an underhanded creep like me could ever have, but we've had a good run. It's just -- look. Katie: I am the only one wearing a dress in this room now, Henry, so stop whining and man up! Do you hear me?
Katie: This guy cost you the woman you love! He ruined your life! Aren't you furious? Henry: Yes, I'm furious! Katie: Then get mad and get even! Henry: Honey, I love you more than you could ever possibly know, but this is not how it's done! Katie: This can't be happening. I can't lose you, Henry. Henry: I don't want to lose you either, but this is it, okay? This is the end of the road. Look, I love you. I love you. I'm gonna think about you every day. But if I stay here, he's gonna kill me! Look, tell the baby about me someday, okay? Tell him -- tell him how much I loved you. Katie: Oh, Henry. You can't leave. Please, don't go! Henry: I'll see you in another life, bubbles. Katie: No! No! [Door closes]
Henry: Tick-tock. Tick-tock. Tick-flipping-tock, Henry.
[Cellphone ringing] Audrey: You can thank me later. Henry: I don't even want to know what that means. I am calling as a courtesy. Audrey: What do you mean, "courtesy"? Henry: You haven't actually earned it, but I can't leave with-- look, mom, I'm not gonna make Ralph's deadline, okay? So I'm out of here. Audrey: Out of where? Henry: Here, Oakdale, the country. I'm leaving, and when Ralph discovers that, he's gonna come after you. So maybe you should pull your pennies and book yourself a one-way trip to anywhere but here. Audrey: Henry, listen to me. Don't leave now. What about the inheritance? Henry: The inheritance? What? You mean the inheritance that I can't get because of Barbara's injunction and now because of Barbara's woman-scorned rage? Audrey: Well, what if I told you that's about to be dealt with? Henry: What is? Audrey: The problem. Henry: Which part of the problem? Why are you speaking in code? Audrey: Because I've decided if you can't beat them then you kill them. Henry: Excuse me? Audrey: Listen to me, please. Just don't skip town now. We're about to have total access to that inheritance. Henry: Oh, mother, what have you done? Audrey: I just mixed James Stenbeck's favorite cocktail. Henry: Oh, my god. Barbara: And now I really am ready for that drink. Henry: Mother? Mother!
Barbara: I mean, there is absolutely no reason in the world why I should like you. Audrey: Oh, now, come on. I think I'm pretty swell. Barbara: Beside the fact that you are bizarrely tolerant of the fact that I had a rather tort yet rather brief affair with your son. Audrey: You know, I think that was really rather big of me. Barbara: We are nothing alike. Audrey: Not true. I think we're very similar. Barbara: And yet on the other hand, I think that -- I think you're fun. Audrey: I do so love to bring on the fun. Barbara: And you've been rather tolerant about this entire inheritance debacle, rather evenhanded about the entire thing, and even today you're a good ear for me about other matters, and I don't know. I guess I trust you. Audrey: Oh, thank you. Barbara: I don't have a lot of friends, and the ones that I do have have been hard-won. I don't know. This has been rather surprisingly satisfying. So, thank you. Audrey: Oh, well, you're welcome. Let's drink, to friendship. Barbara: To friendship. Henry: Oh, no! Barbara: Aaaaaaah!
Henry: Did you have any of that drink before I got here? Audrey: Henry! Henry! Henry: I've never been more serious about anything in my life than at this very minute. Did you have any of that scotch? Barbara: Why? Did she steal it out of your liquor cabinet without asking? Henry: Did you drink any of it? Barbara: A little bit! Just a little bit! Henry: Oh, my god! Barbara: Why? Henry: Here's what I want you to do, okay? You're gonna drink all of this, and then you're gonna drink all of this, all right? And I don't want you to go near that glass ever, ever again, okay? Barbara: Did you try to drug me? Audrey: Pardon? Barbara: Why would you try to -- did you try to poison me? Audrey: Oh, really. Barbara, haven't you had enough drama? You just got open-field tackled by my son. Isn't that enough? Barbara: Answer my question! Audrey: Would you just relax? You know what? If that drink hadn't gotten you, sooner or later something sure would kill you. Henry: Oh! Barbara: You unbelievable -- I can't believe you! Henry: Barbara! Wait a second! I know you're upset. I know you're upset. Please, just drink this for your own good, Barbara! Please! Please! Barbara: Out of my way! Out of my way! Henry: Are you out of your mind? How could you do that? Audrey: Son, don't you understand what I was trying to do? I was trying to save your life. For once I had that protective-mother thing going on, and I wanted to save you! I wanted to be your mother, and then you screwed it all up! Henry: You don't have to kill anybody to protect me! Audrey: Well, not now. I can't, can I? Don't you see what's gonna happen now? You're gonna be dead. Ralph is gonna filet you! You're gonna be dead in the water! D-e-a -- dead!
Barbara: Thanks to you, I'm alive, but you're not getting one cent of that inheritance. Henry: Barbara, as much as I want it, I don't blame you for a second. Now, do you think that you can handle this and her from here on out? Barbara: I think I've got it. Henry: Right. Goodbye, mother. It's been swell. [Door opens, closes] Barbara: I think you and I need to have a little chat.
[Elevator bell dings] Brad: Whoa, whoa, hey! Henry: Brad! God, I'm sorry. Brad: Hey, don't be sorry. I wanted to run in to you. I'm glad it happened literally. And, by the way, Katie was in tears, thanks to you. Henry: I know. I'm trying to correct that. Brad: Well, I need you to do me a favor. Henry: Brad, I've really got somewhere to go. Brad: You'll want to stay for this.
Henry: Listen, Brad, I can't explain, but I have to go, and I got to go right now. Brad: Okay, okay, okay. I know you said you have somewhere to go, but I need your help. It's for Katie. Will that help you stop acting like a weirdo just for five seconds, please? [Cellphone ringing] All right. I can wait. I can wait. Henry: Hi, Ralph. Sorry I'm late. Just a couple of life and death things came up. Ralph: Henry, I know the feeling. But no, no, no, no. No worries. Don't worry about it. Everything is fine. I actually met a friend. I'm not alone. Here, hang on. Say hello to your Henry, honey. Katie: Henry, I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! Ralph: Henry, you let me down. Henry: What do you want? Ralph: I want you to keep your word. You think you can do that? Henry: Listen, um -- Ralph: You listen. I want the money, and just don't forget that this little pal of yours is in a predicament that could become terminal. |
