The Colemans are having a lovely evening at home, which is interrupted by Mike.  But this only makes Maddie more determined to get Katie and Henry back together.

Maddie and Katie are sitting on the floor playing cards, and Henry is looking over Maddie's shoulder.  "Pair of aces," declares Maddie.  "I swear, you're cheating," says Katie.  "That's my gal," smiles Henry proudly.  "Don't encourage her, Henry," admonishes Katie.  "Well, if you can't cheat at poker, what's the point?" asks Maddie.  "Yeah, Katie, what's the point?" laughs Henry.  Katie throws a pillow at him and Henry groans.  "What did I do? What did I do?" asks Katie, concerned.  "You, you, you -- you fell for it again. I can't believe this. It's just incredible," teases Henry.  "You are so easy," laughs Maddie.  "Wait till I get you back," warns Katie.  "Oh, be careful. Careful, careful. She's one of the great retaliators," says Henry.  Katie's cell phone rings and Maddie wonders if she's going to answer it this late.  "It's not that late. Besides, it's my mom," says Katie picking up the phone.  "Your mom never calls you. You always call her," says Henry.  "Untrue. Mom, hey. What's up? What? Oh, I can't hear you. I have a bad connection. Let me take this outside. I'll be right back," says Katie, taking the phone outside.  Maddie gives Henry a look and he asks, "What?"  "Like you don't know," smiles Maddie.  "I don't until you tell me," says Henry.  "Come on. It's obvious," says Maddie.  "What's obvious?" asks Henry.  "My plan is so working," brags Maddie.  "Maybe it's the painkillers, sweetie. I'm not following you," says Henry.  "Don't be dense. You know exactly what I'm talking about. Katie is falling back in love with you," smiles Maddie.

Outside, Katie asks her "mom," who is really Mike, what's going on.  "Meet me and I'll tell you," he says.  "Come on, mom. I'm going to need a little more than that. I can't just disappear on Henry and Maddie for no good reason," says Katie.  Mike explains that the painters are finished at his cottage and he has the place to himself.  "Oh, Mike. There's one problem. How am I gonna sneak away?" asks Katie.  "You're a grown woman, Katie. You don't have to make excuses to people for where you go and what you do," says Mike.  "You know what I mean.," sighs Katie.  "I know, I'm sorry. I don't want to make Henry feel any more uncomfortable than he already does," says Mike.  "And Maddie's watching me like a prison guard. I don't think that girl ever sleeps. And ever since she's been here, neither does Henry," says Katie.  "Too bad you can't slip 'em both a mickey," jokes Mike.  "Now that's an idea I hadn't thought of. Put the champagne on ice. I just had a brainstorm," says Katie.

Back inside, Maddie is wondering what's taking Katie so long.  "She's very close to her mom," says Henry.  "Maybe she ran off again, like the other night," says Maddie.  "Maddie, get off her case, okay? So what if she does? She's a grown woman. She doesn't have to make excuses for where she goes or what she does to anybody," says Henry.  "Maybe that wasn't really her mom calling. Maybe she's really on the phone with a guy whose name we shall not mention," says Maddie, going to peek out the door.  Just then Katie comes back in and apologizes for taking so long.  "What, did you and your mom make up for 20 years of fighting in one phone call, or something?" asks Maddie.  "Oh, no, we just like to talk. That's all," says Katie.  Henry suggests to Maddie that it's time for bed, but she protests that she's on vacation.  "The vacation time is winding down. It's time to get back into that school night rhythm," says Katie.  "What for? I'm not going back to that school," says Maddie, "I hate it. It's ruining my brain. It's ruining my life."  "Sounds pretty damaging," says Katie sympathetically.  "How about I just stay here with you? I'm sure the schools in Oakdale are much better than the ones at home, and wouldn't you be happier having me nearby?" suggests Maddie.  "I am not having this conversation. Shh! I am not having this conversation this late at night, flat on my back, and under the influence of drugs. So, off to bed you go," orders Henry.  "Okay, that's fine. You guys want some time to yourselves. But, can I get anything for you before? Maybe a couple glasses of wine?" offers Maddie.  "I can't drink, remember?" says Henry.  "How about some tea? Wouldn't that just hit the spot?" says Katie.  "Yeah, sure, I'd love some tea," says Henry.  Maddie offers to get it but Katie insists she can take care of it.  "Okay. Good night, then. Goodnight," says Maddie, going upstairs.  "How's your mom?" asks Henry.  "Oh, she's fine. She's on a cruise, South Pacific. So, that's why she called so late. I think she got the times mixed up," lies Katie.  "South sea cruise. How romantic," says Henry.  "Yeah. Well, I mean, you know how she is. She's not in it for romance, just another singing paycheck," says Katie.  "Yeah. I'm sure she gets a little sight-seeing in on her days off though, huh?" prompts Henry.  "Yeah, I'm sure she does," agrees Katie.  "What's her favorite island?" asks Henry.  "Oh, I don't know. I don't think she's picked. I mean, who could? They're all so beautiful. Chamomile okay?" asks Katie, changing the subject.  Henry agrees, and Katie goes into the kitchen to make the tea.  She puts in several tea bags to increase the relaxing power of the tea.

Henry is asleep on the couch, still holding his cup of tea.  "Henry? You still awake? Henry?" asks Katie softly.  When he doesn't answer she takes the cup, covers him with a blanket, and sneaks out to meet Mike.

Maddie comes downstairs in the middle of the night and finds Henry sound asleep.  "Hey. Hey, snoozer. Hey. Wake up," she says, shaking him.  "Huh? Maddie. What's wrong?" asks Henry, startled.  "It depends. Where's Katie?" asks Maddie.  "I don't know. Bed, I suppose. Where you should be," says Henry.  "Wait, wait, wait. At least give me some details," pries Maddie.  "Details about what?" asks Henry.  "You and Katie. What happened? Did you get all cozy and snuggly while you sipped your tea and talked about old times?" asks Maddie.  "Oh, we did not get snuggly. We just chatted and she gave me a kiss and said good night, and that was it," reports Henry.  "She kissed you?" asks Maddie.  "I think so, yeah," yawns Henry.  "Lips or cheek?" asks Maddie.  "What difference does it make?" asks Henry impatiently.  "All the difference in the world," says Maddie.  "Maddie, give it up. Go back to bed," says Henry.  "I am not giving up, Henry. And neither should you. And falling asleep is not helping your cause," says Maddie.  "It was not the kind of kiss that you write home about, okay? And I don't have a cause. And getting back together with Katie is a lost cause. Why can't you get that through your thick, teenage skull?" says Henry.  Maddie sighs and picks up her computer.  She writes a post on a website asking for help: "As usual, my brother Henry is his own worst enemy. He had a chance to win Katie back tonight, but he blew it. But ever the optimist, I refuse to give up. He and Katie are a major destiny couple, and I will do whatever it takes to get them back together. My goal is to see them smooching by the end of the week. Suggestions for a plan are welcome."

Maddie has another daydream of Henry and Katie back together.  "I knew it would work. I knew you two would finally figure out that you belong together," says Maddie.  "And it's all thanks to you, Maddie. We couldn't have done it without you. You never gave up on us. You always knew that we needed to learn that we belonged together. Thank you so much," smiles Katie.  "Hey, I am just glad that it worked out," says Maddie.  "No, no, don't be modest. To show you how grateful we are, we've got a proposition for you," says Henry, "We want you to stay here in Oakdale. We want this to be your home."  "You mean it?" asks Maddie.  "We can't imagine our lives without you. You brought us together. You belong in this home," says Henry.  Maddie opens her eyes with a smile.  "Okay, Henry. It's a deal. I'll get you and Katie back together, whatever it takes, and you'll let me stay here. Everybody wins," she says.

It's almost morning, and Maddie is asleep on a chair.  Katie comes home after spending the night with Mike.  She peaks in the window and sees that Henry is still asleep.  "Oh, good. Chamomile tea works every time," she says.  Unfortunately for her, Maddie didn't have any tea.  She opens the door and confronts Katie, "Where have you been?"  "We have to stop meeting like this," says Katie.  "You were out all night," accuses Maddie.  "Oh, I'm sorry, mother. I didn't know I had a curfew," jokes Katie.  "Well, I was worried. And so was Henry," says Maddie.  "Was he, now?" asks Katie, looking at him fast asleep on the couch.  "So, where were you?" repeats Maddie.  "I don't think that's any of your business," says Katie.  "And I think it is," counters Maddie.
