Tuesday, June 2, 2009 A paranoid Katie thinks Brad is cheating on her. She decides to run away, and Vienna promises to go with her. Henry finds Brad and punches him, only to learn that the woman he's been seeing is looking for adoptive parents for her baby. They stop Katie and Vienna from leaving town, and tell Brad the news that Katie is pregnant. Today’s episode was directed by Michael Eilbaum and written by Gordon Rayfield.
Transcripts from TVMegasite Henry: Well, you should have seen their faces. Not many $10,000 checks walking in off the street these days. Vienna: Well, at least that fund will help adopted children. Henry: Yeah. It's not the child that we really wanted to help. Vienna: No, but it's a nice way to remember. Henry: I guess so. Vienna: So, can we go back to being friends with Katie and Brad now? Henry: I don't think I'm ready for that.
Vienna: They've been through so much disappointment. It was our fault. Henry: Not really. Vienna: But we knew for weeks that I'd lost Brad's baby and I was pregnant with yours. We should have told them. Henry: Well, we didn't want to upset them. Vienna: I know, but we shouldn't have kept it a secret. Henry: Well, now our baby's gone, too, so we're even. Vienna: Even? Henry: I know. It's a terrible thing to say. But it's -- it's easier for me to live with what's happened if they're childless and miserable, too. Vienna: No, no. That's a horrible thing to say. Henry: Well, I'm a horrible person. [Cell phone ringing] [Vienna sighs] Vienna: Hello. Katie: Are you alone? Vienna: Are you all right? [Voice breaking] Katie: Can you meet me? Vienna: N -- now. Katie: Vienna, my life is over. Vienna: Okay, okay. I'm coming. Katie: I'll be at java. Vienna: Okay. Bye. Henry: Who was that? Vienna: Katie. She's sick. She -- she needs a bowl of my Swedish chicken soup. She's still my friend, no matter how you feel about her, okay? Henry: Tell her I, uh, hope she feels better. Vienna: I will.
Henry: Oh, my god. You're leaving me. Vienna, look, is this about the terrible things I said about Brad and Katie. I -- I'm so -- I take all that back. And I will go to them, and I will apologize. I will beg for their forgiveness. I'll do anything you want! Just don't leave me! Please don't leave me! Vienna: I'm not leaving you, Henry! Katie is leaving Brad, and I'm going with her. Henry: What? Why? Vienna: Because she found out that he's cheating on her. Henry: Brad? I don't believe you. Vienna: No, it's true, because I saw him. I saw him kiss the girl, and he gave her a bracelet. Henry: What girl? Vienna: I don't know who she is, but she's young enough to be his daughter. Henry: How could he do this to Katie? Vienna: I don't know, but we have to be there for her right now, because we are all that she has left.
Brad: [Doorbell rings] Katie -- hey, Henry, you know where Katie is? Henry: Gone. Brad: What the hell was that for? Henry: I knew you didn't deserve her, that -- that you're not good enough to breathe her air. Brad: What are you talking about? Henry: How could you do this, Brad?! Brad: Do what? Henry: Would you stop it with the pathetic lying and just admit it like a man?! Brad: Admit what? Henry: Brad, you know, you don't have to play dumb. It comes to you naturally! Brad: You know, Henry, you're really starting to push me! Henry: Are you playing the victim now?! Brad: Vic -- what are you? What are you talking about? I come home. I find this crazy note from Katie. And then I open the door and you're there, and you hit me. And now you're acting like a lunatic. What is going on?! Henry: The game is up, dude, okay? Vienna saw you with your -- your squeeze, kissing her and giving her presents in our diner! [Brad sighs] Brad: Gina, Gina. Henry: Is that her name -- Gina? Brad: Where is Katie? Henry: She, uh, went to greener pastures, dude, and more power to her. Brad: Will you shut up? Just shut up for a second! She's not my girlfriend, man. She's pregnant. She's giving her baby up for adoption. Henry: She's pregnant? Brad: Yeah. She -- she didn't want to give her baby to anyone that she didn't feel comfortable with, so I was meeting with her so we can get to know each other. And I gave her the bracelet. That was kind of a token of friendship. I was being nice. Henry: Why didn't you tell Katie this? Brad: Because I didn't want her to get her hopes up until Gina made her decision. I'm not having an affair. I was trying to convince her to give us her baby. That's all. Henry: Oh.
Vienna: Hello. Henry: Are you with Katie? Vienna: Are you with Brad? Henry: Yes. Where are you? She hung up on me. Brad: Where are they? Henry: I don't know. She didn't tell me. Brad: Call them back. Call her back. It is a matter of life or death. [Cell phone rings] Vienna: No, Henry. Henry: Don't hang up. This is a matter of life or death. Vienna: I don't care what lies he's told you. I'm not gonna tell you where we are. Henry: Listen to me. Katie's got it all wrong. She's making a big mistake here. Vienna: Why should I believe you? Henry: What reason do I have to lie?! Vienna, please! Vienna: We're in old town. Henry: Keep her there. Let's go. Brad: I owe you my life. Henry: Yes. We'll get to that later.
Brad: Thank goodness you're still here. Katie: You told them? Vienna: I had to. Katie: You stabbed me in the back, just like he did! Brad: I didn't -- I did not do anything. Katie: Don't you talk to me. Brad: Look, this is not what you think it is. Katie: Really? Katie: I know all about hot little Gina and kissing and -- Brad: She's pregnant. Katie: Oh, god. Kill me now. Brad: No, no. Not that. Katie: So you wanted someone young and fertile to carry on your name? Henry: Katie, Brad is not the father. Brad: Not yet. Katie: So you want to divorce me so you can marry her. Is that it? Brad: Katie, Katie, she wants to give her baby up for adoption, okay? But she wants to choose the parent. She's very particular. I was trying to get her to choose us. Katie: You're lying. Brad: I -- I swear. Okay, you know what? Why don't you ask her yourself, okay? I'll call her right now. Katie: Why didn't you tell me?! Brad: Because I -- because I wanted to make sure that you were gonna have a baby this time. Vienna: Tell him. Tell him. Brad: Tell me what? Katie: We are gonna have a baby, Brad. I'm pregnant. There are things going on Both: You're pregnant? Brad: The doctor said it was impossible. Katie: Yeah. He was pretty surprised. Brad: You saw him? Katie: Yeah. He said it's practically a miracle, but it's real, Brad. It's real. Brad: Why didn't you tell me?! Katie: For the same reason you didn't tell me. I wanted to be sure. Brad: Well, I mean, I can't believe it. You were gonna walk out on me?! Katie: I thought you were cheating on me. Brad: I would never do that. I love you so much. Katie: I love you, too. Henry: Is that why you wanted to go with her? You knew she was pregnant? Vienna: Yeah. I couldn't tell you. Katie: I swore her to secrecy. I didn't want Brad to know. Brad: So we're gonna have a baby? Katie: Yeah. We really are.
Henry: Well, I am glad you are not going. Vienna: So am I. Are you all right? Henry: Yeah. Why shouldn't I be? Vienna: What you said before -- that you were glad Katie and Brad weren't having a baby. Did you mean that? Henry: Since when do I mean what I say? Vienna: Are you sure? Henry: I couldn't be happier for them. Vienna: Too bad she didn't get pregnant when she tried. It would have saved us all so much heartache. Henry: For them. Not for us.
