Maddie finds Henry and gives him some comforting words after his disastrous wedding.  She convinces him to at least talk to Vienna.  Henry goes up to their hotel room and overhears Vienna with Brad, who brought her home from the farm.  He's even more convinced he should just leave her alone to get on with her life without him.

Today’s episode was directed by Maria Wagner and written by Elizabeth Page.

Maddie: Thank god. I was so worried about you. Are you okay? You walked out of the wedding, you just disappeared!

Henry: Yeah, I'm sorry I worried you.

Maddie: Are you okay? What are you drinking?

Henry: Ginger ale.

Maddie: Henry, you only drink ginger ale when you're really upset.

Henry: Well, of course I'm upset, Maddie. I broke Vienna's heart, and it's the one thing I was trying not to do.

Maddie: Well, what did you think? She wasn't going to be happy that you left her at the altar, Henry.

Henry: No, I knew she would be mad and embarrassed. I just -- I also knew it would be a bad decision to go through with this marriage. It would ruin the rest of her life. I just can't stop seeing the look on her face.

Maddie: She was in shock. And it's going to take some time, but eventually, she'll get over it.

Henry: I hurt her, Maddie. And she doesn't deserve that.

Maddie: You need to give yourself some time.

Henry: Like what? The rest of my life?

Maddie: You'll find somebody else. And before you know it, you'll be picking out wedding rings.

Henry: Maddie, I had a beautiful woman standing right there in a white dress waiting for me to pull the trigger, and I couldn't do it. I'm not going to do that to myself or to anyone else ever again.

Maddie: So -- okay, I heard what you said at the wedding. That you didn't love her enough to marry her.

Henry: Don't remind me of that, please.

Maddie: But now it sounds like you don't even want to get married to anybody -- ever.

Henry: I don't know. I wanted the words to come out of my mouth. I wanted that to happen. I wanted to see the smile on her face -- and jump right in there and be a husband. I froze.

Maddie: What are you scared of?

Henry: I wish I did. I wish I did.

Maddie: Because you told me that when you and Katie got married, you were totally calm. Obviously, you weren't afraid then.

Henry: There was nothing to be afraid of. She's my best friend.

Maddie: Right. And I'm sorry. I don't mean to bring up a sore subject.

Henry: I know, she was in love with mike.

Maddie: So, really -- I mean, there was a chance that it wasn't going to work out, and you knew that. Deep down, you knew that it wasn't actually a real wedding.

Henry: Well, it was damn good practice.

Maddie: Yes, but here we are.

Henry: You have had entirely too much therapy.

Maddie: Okay, can I tell you something? It's about me, not you.

Henry: Can I stop you?

Maddie: The biggest mistake i ever made was not telling anybody that I was raped. Okay? I -- it happened, and I didn't want to say anything about it, and I thought that it would just go away. Only, it didn't. And the more I kept denying what I was feeling, the worse that it got.

Henry: I know you've been through a tough time, sweetie, i know. But I think our situations are not very similar.

Maddie: No, you're not getting it. It's not the situation, it's what you do about it, how you handle it. You can sit here, sucking down this ginger ale, or you can face the fact that you messed up. I mean, I almost lost Casey because I couldn't face what happened to me. I don't want you to make that same mistake.

Henry: What do you suggest I do?

Maddie: Don't give up on love. There is a girl out there waiting for you. But you need to look at yourself if you're ever going to find happiness with her.

Henry: Have you talked to Vienna, or seen her since the wedding?

Maddie: No, she went inside afterwards, and we all thought it was best to just leave her alone. But I did talk to Emma this morning.

Henry: Has Vienna recovered?

Maddie: She polished off all the champagne and then broke into Emma's elderberry wine.

Henry: That's my girl.

Maddie: And then she tore down all the wedding decorations and pretty much destroyed the cake -- and the kitchen.

Henry: Great. No more rustic evenings on the farm for me -- or holidays in Sweden.

Maddie: When was the last time you were in Sweden?

Henry: Thursday. She was the frozen north, I was the mongol horde, storming in to stake my claim.

Maddie: See -- you guys do have a lot of fun together. And you love her.

Henry: I never said that I didn't have -- you know, feelings for the woman. It's just -- marriage is a big commitment!

Maddie: I know, I just -- I feel really bad for her. And she's been so nice to me, too -- she got me a room here, and she asked me to be her maid of honor.

Henry: She's a sweetheart.

Maddie: And now that Casey and I are back together, I finally know what it's like to love someone and have them love you back -- and give yourself to them.

Henry: Okay, good. We're just going to have this conversation for about 30 seconds, because I can't even believe we're talking about this -- but Maddie, you are being safe, right?

Maddie: How can I be anything when I'm not even allowed to see him?

Henry: Maddie --

Maddie: Yes, Henry, we are being safe. I finally start having sex, and --

Henry: Maddie! Maddie, come on --

Maddie: I might as well be a virgin, because --

Henry: Good, good!

Maddie: You know, for someone who just walked out on a wedding, you are being incredibly insensitive.

Henry: Wait, wait, wait, wait -- don't go, please. I'm sorry. I'm sorry -- I just -- I'm your brother, and I just have not accepted that you're all grown up. That's all.

Maddie: Yeah, well, if I were all grown up, they wouldn't be able to do this to me.

Henry: Have you called him?

Maddie: Not with his parents guarding the phone.

Henry: Do you want me to call him?

Maddie: No, no, no, no, no. I don't want you to get him in trouble.

Henry: Have you gone over there?

Maddie: Henry, he's on house arrest.

Henry: You're not. Just wait until his parents are gone, and then go over there.

Maddie: No, 'cause since his heart attack, tom's been working at home a lot.

Henry: Yeah, but I'm sure he has to see clients at some point, go down to the courthouse. I'm not suggesting that you go against his parents' wishes here.

Maddie: I know. Thank you.

Henry: You're the best. Even with all this nonsense going on, you still take the time to take care of Vienna. I appreciate that.

Maddie: It's no effort. I like her. She's fun. And she actually has a soft spot, if you know where to look. Anyway, I feel for her.

Henry: Is there anything I can do? Short of eloping with her?

Maddie: You can talk to her. Think about it. If someone left you at the altar, wouldn't you want an explanation?

Brad: Okay, here we are. Safe home.

Vienna: "To Mrs. Henry Coleman --" that was supposed to be me.

Brad: You could return them.

Vienna: You know, I don't want them to be a part of my future, because it didn't happen.

Brad: Let me just take these gifts off your hands.

Vienna: You know what? You can just give it to the poor ones, because I don't need them. I don't need any dishes or crystals. I don't need no nothing!

Brad: So -- mission accomplished. I'll just -- I'm gonna take off and get some of these out of your way. So, if you need any help, give me a call.

Vienna: Brad --

Brad: Yeah, that's my name.

Vienna: I need something.

Brad: Happy to help.

Brad: Any other time --

Vienna: But what's wrong with right now?

Brad: Well, first of all, you drank most of Emma's elderberry wine --

Vienna: She doesn't mind.

[ Vienna hiccups ]

Brad: And then you have the hiccups.

Vienna: Well, I -- you know, I have an excellent cure for that. See? No more hiccups.

[ Vienna hiccups ]

Brad: That's great. You're going to catch a cold.

Vienna: But don't you want me, Brad?

Brad: You have no idea how bad, but you're in no shape --

Vienna: But don't you think that -- oh, don't you think that we deserve some fun? Huh? After everything we've been through?

Brad: Fun is good --

Vienna: You know you want me. Every time we've tried to make love, someone has interrupted us -- over and over.

Brad: Yeah, I remember.

Vienna: Well, there's not going to be any interruptions here. Come on.

[Henry listening at the door.]

Vienna: You know what I love about you, Brad?

Brad: My handsome face, my foolish charm? My career in television?

Vienna: All of that. And you know what I love the most about you? You never left me. No matter what I said or did, you never left. You were always here.

Brad: Well, that's me. You can't kill me, can't drive me away.

Vienna: You won't leave me, will you? That's what I want -- a man who never leaves. You promise you won't leave me?

Brad: I think you need some oxygen.

Vienna: You're right. My head is spinning.

Brad: Time for bed.

Vienna: That's a brilliant idea. I can't wait to make love to you.

Vienna: Oh, don't you like me, Brad?

Brad: Much too much.

Vienna: Okay, so what's the problem?

Brad: You know, the problem is, is you don't want to do this. Not really.

Vienna: No, no, of course I do.

Brad: No, no. No, you don't. Now, Vienna -- just -- Vienna, go to sleep. No, no.

Vienna: Come on.

Brad: No.

Vienna: Why not?

Brad: No. I'm going to hate myself in the morning -- so much. Because the truth is, I don't want to sleep with you.

Maddie: Back so soon?

Henry: Yup.

Maddie: What happened? Did you talk to Vienna?

Henry: No.

Maddie: She'll be back soon enough.

Henry: She's back.

Maddie: What do you mean?

Henry: She's upstairs.

Maddie: Then why didn't you talk to her?

Henry: Because I decided that it was obvious that I made the right decision.

Maddie: Okay, but you do owe the woman some sort of explanation.

Henry: No, I don't think so. I don't think so. I think we both know this was the right thing to do.

Maddie: Leaving her at the altar?

Henry: Letting her get on with the rest of her life.

Vienna: What do you mean, you don't want to sleep with me? You've been trying for weeks.

Brad: Yes, I have. And here you are looking absolutely ravishing.

Vienna: Well, so ravish me.

Brad: Believe me, I would. But the truth is, I like you.

Vienna: You do?

Brad: Yeah, I do. You know, you're a hell of a woman, Vienna. And you know, you just got your heart stomped. And if we slept together, it might feel good. Of course it would feel good, this is me I'm talking about. But you know, you'd just hate me, you'd hate yourself, and it would be a big mess. And I think it would just be better if we, you know --

Vienna: Henry? Brad. Thank you.

Brad: You're welcome. Snyder, you are a saint.
